Burke Bros Moving Group

Absolutely dreadfully. The only reason I gave 1 star was the team who wrapped our goods in UK were profesional. From there on it it turned into a joke. From original expectation of goods arriving we waited a further 2 months. Burke Bros comment was,(out of our hands?). When finally arrived and the container door was unlocked our goods were falling out of the back and my motor cycle and several

peices of expensive furniture were damaged. They simply do not care once they have your money, (£7600,). Spoke to the shipping agent and was told the container was sealed in GB and not opened until delivery here, that means all the damage was Burkes responsibility. In turn they said I should have taken Marine insurance, why when damage was done on transferring from lorry to container..

A DREADFULL EXPERIENCE

The worst removal experience in 35 years (8 moves). Gave Burke Bros measurements for our drive & gate width in France, the vehicle they sent couldn't get up it! Whole house contents ferried from the road by hand - 100 yards, in the rain. 7 items of furniture were chipped/damaged en route. We shared a part load with another family with nothing but a piece of string separating the two loads. Several items were 'missing' including a full box that couldn't be claimed for as we packed it. No satisfactory answers were ever given from Burke Bros. in total we made 14 phone calls to them and received only 3 calls back, one of them 3 days later. We were passed on to their insurers within the week. We have just retired early and should have been having the time of our lives in a new country, instead we were dealing with a complete and utter mess. Our home contents were brought out on 24th Feb 2016, the insurance claim was settled today, 22nd August 2016. Enough said!

Service cost: £2600

We booked this company a month ahead of our moving date and completed all the necessary paperwork. We kept them informed at all stages and then confirmed the date (which was unchanged) at the point of exchange of contracts, 2 weeks in advance. We were then told that they had taken another booking the previous day and could not longer help us. My wife (who took the call) was upset and pleaded with them to help in some way, but they did not even have the courtesy to call back for another week (when they could still not assist) and at no stage was there even an hint of an apology. Do not trust these people.
